Directors

Stephen Biggam

Criminal Defence

Stephen has been with Marshall Wilson since 2002 becoming a partner in 2004. He is a Solicitor Advocate who specialises exclusively in Criminal Defence law.

Stephen graduated from the University of Glasgow with an Honours Degree in Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice. He then graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Masters Degree in Law by Research in Jurisprudence.

Stephen has worked as a Procurator Fiscal depute based in Stirling, Alloa, Falkirk and Glasgow. He was also employed in the Office of the Solicitor to the Scottish Executive providing legal advice to the Criminal Justice Department on Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminal and Community Justice issues. Stephen has also been involved in drafting and instructing legislation in respect of such matters.

Stephen deals solely with Criminal Defence work within the firm and his position as Solicitor Advocate allows him to have extended rights of audience within the High Court.


Fiona Munn

Family Law, Employment Law and Executry

Fiona began her traineeship with Marshall Wilson in 1991 after having graduated from Strathclyde University with a Degree in Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice. She became a partner in 2000.

Fiona specialises in all aspects of Family Law including divorce, separation agreements, residence, contact disputes and adoption. She is regularly appointed by the Court to report in family cases.

In the field of Employment Law Fiona acts for both employers and employees in connection with Settlement Agreements which allow both employers and employees to bring employment to an end in an agreed way without the need for an Employment Tribunal. 

Fiona also accepts instructions for the drafting of Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Fiona also carries out the executry work for the company, assisted by the executry team of Lynette Sutherland and and Shelby Johnstone. She is happy to accept instructions for the drafting of Wills and Powers of Attorney.


Malcolm Thomson

Conveyancing and Family Law

Malcolm has been with Marshall Wilson since 1987 after graduating from Edinburgh University with a Degree in Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice. He became a partner in 1993.

Malcolm specialises in all aspects of Conveyancing, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Guardianships.

He also deals with all aspects of Family Law including divorce, separation agreements, residence, contact disputes and adoption. He is regularly appointed by the Court to report in family cases. He is also a qualified Family Law Mediator.

John Mulholland

Criminal Defence Work

John graduated from Strathclyde University with a Degree in Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice in 1988. He joined Marshall Wilson in 2011 after practising as a criminal defence solicitor and partner based in Glasgow and Falkirk.

He specialises exclusively in criminal and road traffic defence work.

John is a former President of The Law Society of Scotland.

Emma Carter

Family Law and Conveyancing

Emma has been with Marshall Wilson since 2014 after graduating from Edinburgh University with an Honours Degree in Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice. Whilst she is instructed in a variety of civil cases, her primary focus is on Family Law and she deals with all aspects of divorce, separation agreements, residence and contact disputes concerning children and adoption. She is also regularly instructed to appear before the Children’s Panel with her clients and to follow through those cases in the Sheriff Court. Emma is regularly instructed by the Courts to carry our reports for the Court in Family Law cases.

Emma also deals with Conveyancing, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Guardianships.


Shelby Johnstone

Executry and Wills

Shelby has been with Marshall Wilson since 2017 after graduating from the University of Stirling with an Honours Degree in Law and a Diploma in legal practice from the University of Strathclyde. 

She specialises in private client work, dealing with Executry, Wills, Transfer of Title and Discharges.
